Matthew Landau
Mr. Landau is a well-known Wall street Leading financial investors who has nearly 30 years of experience in real estate investment. With his creative investment philosophy, he brings the advanced capital management concepts and new vitality to the whole HIG Chinese team and project.Prior to the HIG, he was the principal of Landau Properties focused on acquiring distressed and opportunistic commercial real estate nationally. For the prior 5 years, he was a Principal of Westport Capital Partners, an institutional investment firm similarly focused. There, Mr. Landau was primarily responsible for sourcing, underwriting and closing new business. Other responsibilities included asset management, investor relations, and credit committee authority.
For more than the prior dozen years, Mr. Landau held Managing Director roles in Real Estate departments at 3 Wall Street investment banks including a French AAA rated firm (Natixis), Bear Stearns and Deutshe Bank. In the 1980s, Mr. Landau worked in commercial real estate banking at HSBC and Citibank. Mr. Landau has been active with the Real Estate Lenders Association, previously serving as its Chairman and currently serving on its Board of Directors. Mr. Landau received his M.S. with honors in Real Estate Finance and Investment from New York University.
Roy Chen
Roy has over 10 years of commercial real estate experience in US. He was working as an independent real estate investment banker and advisor since 2010, during which period he negotiated, structured, and closed over $80 million joint venture equity investment transactions on distressed real estate situations. Before that, Roy worked as an acquisition officer for a real estate private equity fund based in New York, where he completed over $500 million acquisitions of office properties across the country during his two year stint. Prior to that, Roy had 5 years of real estate investment banking/financing experience at NorthMarq Capital, a leading boutique real estate banking firm. Prior to that, he worked at the real estate valuation/advisory group at PriceWaterHouseCoopers, where he provided real estate valuation and portfolio analysis for some of this country’s most prominent real estate private equity funds and pension fund advisors. Throughout his career, Roy analyzed, structured, and closed over $2 billion in commercial real estate transactions.
Roy has accumulated experiences in all aspects of commercial real estate including valuation, structured finance and investment banking, joint venture investment, acquisition, and restructuring and recapitalization of distressed properties. Roy earned his MBA in finance and real estate from University of Connecticut.
Mr. Chin’s approach to business projects and client issues is focused but utilizes his diverse work experience and legal skills garnered over a few decades of private and public sector service, to apply to the issues presented. As a lawyer, he understands how to deal with today’s more complex business problems that may involve due diligence, finance, regulatory compliance, and diplomatic client and third party relations. He can bridge cultural, philosophical and regional differences in the business context.
